The 16-link stud curtain chain has been developed to hang inside the chipper chute and acts as a sweeper. ​The curtain chain has a solid bar welded inside each link, this increases the weight of the chain and also helps reduce branches and other pieces of wood becoming inserted in the chain. This reduces its effect by creating openings in the curtain chain wall. The most effective curtain chain has a number of rows with different chain lengths, this allows the chains to effectively sweep logs of different diameters.
